Performance

An Alexander Technique instructor need not be expert in an activity to help  student understand how to participate in the activity with less effort and greater coordination and grace.  That said, I find that the study of a wide range of activities broadens my understanding of movement.

Swimming: I am a student of the "Shaw Method" which applies the Alexander Technique to swimming, increasing ease and efficiency, while reducing tension and strain.

Running:  I studied running with Malcolm Balk, an Alexander Technique instructor and marathon runner, to improve balance, stamina, and enjoyment of running.

Golf and Tennis:  Sports involving a swing require coordinated pivots and balance shifts.

Voice:  Alexander Technique improves sound quality and vocal expression by freeing up the muscles used in sound production.

Meditation:  I am especially interested in how the Alexander Technique  increases poise and stability, without rigidity, during meditation.
